Everyone has heard about the genocide in Darfur. The unfortunate thing is that the situation in Darfur is not the only deadly conflict in the Horn of Africa. Since early this year, the Ethiopian army has been occupying part of Somalia in an attempt to drive the Islamists from the country. This conflict has been a bloody and ongoing one. It had originally seemed as if the Ethiopians were going to be able to stabilize the country, but in recent weeks the Islamists have been quite successful against the Ethiopians. This is an issue I expect we’ll be hearing more about in the next couple of months.
