Today we finished talking about critical theory which says that individuals should interact in the government, which should be able the people, not about the state. It is different from Marxism because critical theory is for the super structure, and wants to have a better relationship with nature instead of focusing on economy. New Marxism says that we should not be completely anti-capitalist. Bill Warren (new Marxism) says that capitalism was seen by Marx as something that states had to go through. Justin Rosenburg (new Marxism) said that anarchy is not permanent, but a part of the capitalist system.
We then discussed Constructivism, which is a theory that says that everything has come about for a reason, and that every idea is man-made, not inherent. Every idea is constructed by people, and then people by into it. Constructivism says that you can change or improve what there is now, but people accept reality because its practical.
